Eidegrend grew from a historic farmstead, preserved through generations. Our boutique hotel draws on local history and tradition. Full of character, it offers a distinctive stay where comfort meets cultural heritage.

Lisbeth & Inge-Brigt
Our wish is to preserve this beautiful historic cluster of farm buildings and share the stories of the farmstead and its surrounding hamlet.
In February 2020, we began converting the barn: removing animal stalls, digging, plastering and scrubbing. An indoor silo was taken down to make room for the kitchen. Long days, evenings and weekends, with help from our three children, Camilla, Marita and Fredrik, and their partners, created the restaurant kitchen and event venue now known as Floren Mat & Kultur.
At first, we commuted between Eidegrend and Bergen, where we both worked: Inge-Brigt as an independent construction management consultant and Lisbeth in finance at DNB. In August 2021, Lisbeth left DNB after 35 years. Inge-Brigt continues his work in Bergen.

Creating a boutique hotel
Stay in one of the small houses around the farmstead and enjoy the warmth and character of these authentic old timber buildings. Take a gentle stroll through the courtyard, beside the stream and around the hamlet.
A boutique hotel is small and intimate, often set in distinctive buildings. It offers hospitality on a personal scale, with attentive service, fresh flowers and candlelight. These are the qualities we hope our guests will experience here.
Eidegrend’s cluster of farm buildings dates to the 1600s. Both the farmstead and the surrounding hamlet have a rich history.
Good food and drink are central to the experience. We serve locally sourced ingredients at breakfast and dinner, celebrating the specialities of our region.
